Michelle,

Bookrings are where a group of BCers want to read the same book, so it's
owner sends it to one participant, who sends it onto another, and so on.
When all participants have read it, it goes back to the owner (ring hoster).

Book rays are almost the same, except that when all participants have read
it, the final participant can do with it as they wish. E.g. pass to a
friend, wild release, put in an OBCZ etc.

Book spirals are almost the same as bookrings. Except that a series of
books go round to the same list of people, but staggered, so one is meant to
arrive after you finish reading the preceding one in that series.

Hope that helps, anymore questions feel free to ask.
