For current information on DSL service to a given area, as well as
ratings of service providers, go to:
www.dslreports.com
Enter your zip code, and you can see a list of full options for both
business and residential, including prices. Other areas of the site, as
mentioned, list providers with service ratings and comments from satisfied
and dissatisfied customers. If you order through DSLReports, they assign
a customer service person to you who also follows up on order processing
with the ISP and provider.
FWIW, I've recently gotten DSL from Speakeasy (through Covad) and am
very happy - main problems were delays from Verizon getting the loop set
up correctly. This was after totally horrible experiences trying to set
up DSL with Verizon, who took my order and simply never processed it,
among other things, then 2 months (and several phone calls) later,
informed me that they were no longer adding accounts to my service area
and would "let me know" when it becomes available.
