Last night there was brief moaning by people who wanted keybards without the Windows(tm) keys.

For many users, the easiest and cheapest way to get one is probably to go to the MIT Flea and buy an old keyboard -- one made long enough ago not to have Windows keys. That won't help if you need a USB keyboard, though, since they're mostly too new.

If it's just seeing that Windows logo that offends, there is also the Happy Hacking keyboard, which has diamond keys instead of Windows keys. But that doesn't meet your request of Control and Alt keys next to the spacebar; it has the Control key in the old-fashioned location where the Caps Lock key is on most current keyboards. (It also is odd in other ways, such as not having separate Function keys.)
