These two positions are at a company that delivers real-time
highly-available transaction systems to its (non-financial) clients.  The
company is located in Cambridge; telecommuting is currently not an option.
The listings are being posted via a recruiter.



Operations Developer

Responsibilities:

* Design, implement, and maintain software to automate, analyze, and
  control many of the complex operational functions at data centers
* Work with different internal teams to understand product domains
* Train downstream operations staff, including the production of
  documentation, diagrams, and other visualization tools.
* Help to debug complex problems as they arise
* Help to maintain and grow a production environment in a way that makes
  the system increasingly maintainable

Qualifications:

* Extensive programming experience in a UNIX/Linux environment, Perl or
  Oython preferred
* Bachelor's degree in CS, or equivalent work experience
* Experience designing end-to-end solutions, including code, hardware,
  and networks
* Expert-level knowledge of the standard UNIX/Linux command-line
  toolkit: awk, sed, bash, tcpdump, lsof, etc.
* Strong knowledge of UNIX/Linux architecture

Special Knowledge/Skills Required:

* Ability to constantly learn new domains, both technically and
  non-technically
* Ability to prioritize efforts without constant management involvement
* Must have excellent problem solving skills, and a willingness to
  exercise them on a daily basis

This is a full-time position, salary range 80-110/k with 100% benefits
paid as well as T or parking pass.



Automation Engineer

Responsibilities:

* Develop automated tests for new system components using
  internally-developed suite of tools
* Participate in test tool design and implementation
* Create new test cases, scripts and procedures
* Work with Operations to understand and navigate multiple environments
  for executing automation suites
* Provide training and documentation to other QA team members on the
  usage of newly developed testing tools
* Analyze results of functional, regression, and system-level tests
* Report, research, and verify software problem logs in bug tracking
  database
* Write test plans and reports

Qualifications:

* 5-7 years Quality Assurance/Development experience required
* Prior experience using automated testing tools and frameworks
* Proficient with QA concepts and methodology
* Strong programming skills in Java, Perl, Python, or a scripting language
* Experience with C, C++, XML, or Common Lisp a plus
* Database testing, including disaster recovery and load testing,
  experience desired

Special Knowledge/Skills Required:

* Detail oriented and strong organization skills
* Confidence to participate and contribute within a fast-paced,
  technologically aggressive, highly skilled, and collegial team
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Self-motivated, able to work independently and perform multiple tasks
  under minimal supervision

Salary in the 80-100/k range with 100% benefits paid and Free parking or T
