Hi Nicky:

This is coming from a groggy person, so hope there aren't many errors. There is one more thing you can try, because I don't believe you will have a corrupted file, at least, I always hope that.

From the Main Menu, press W for Keyword. Press O to open a
document. Make sure you go to the Flash Drive. The folder you will be looking for is the dictionary folder. Press Enter. Press the Space bar once to get to the "list of files" prompt. Press Space with X, (read with X). Press the Space bar once more, and press the letter K. You will be looking for the file called keysoft dot ksaid. When you see that one, press Backspace C, (Ctrl I) to erase that file. You will be asked if you are sure, and press Y for yes. Do a plain reset at that point. Your voice will come on very strange, and you will be back at the default. You won't lose anything. See if that helps you.

Good luck, my friend, and I'll check to see how it worked. It may be a while, (smile).

Hello Rhonda,

Thanks so much for your quick response! I've tried all the
resets, including the service reset as a last resort, but I'm afraid I still get the "reached the end of the file" message. I can't help thinking that there should be some way of brainwashing the PC into letting me copy the file and then open it. I must have really messed up that file big time!

I do appreciate your help, and please let me know if you have any
other suggestions.

All the best,
Nicky

Hello, Nicola:

If you are at the Main Menu, try doing a 123 (Fds) reset, or a
456 (Jkl) reset to see if it clears it up. I assume you're
plugged in at this time. If this doesn't work, take all cards
out, and do a service reset, (record with reset key)

Good luck to you.

Subject: [Braillenote] Corrupted Keyword file, help please

Hi all,

Last night, while I was working in a Keyword Braille file, my BN
mPower's battery suddenly went dead without a "battery is low"
message. Of course, this led to a reset, and since then I can't
open my file. It's quite large, around 460 kb. When I press
space with I, it still gives its size as what I would expect it
to be, which leads me to think that the contents haven't been
completely erased. I've tried copying, moving and translating
it, but to no avail. I always get a beep tone followed by the
message, "reached the end of the file". I've tried sending it
to
myself as an attachment, but still no luck.

I connected to my computer with ActiveSync, and the file shows up
with its normal size, but even on the PC I can't copy it to a
different location. I've been able to rename it and give it
different file extensions (as you can tell, I was getting
desperate), but I was still unable to copy it. I'd love to try
to open it with Notepad or another such program, but "open
with..." does not seem to be an option when I view the file in
ActiveSync. I've checked that the file is not protected.

I'm beginning to run out of ideas, so I'd really appreciate any
help with this! It's so frustrating, as I feel sure the
information is essentially still there, but I just can't get to
it!

Sorry for the long post,
Nicky
