Hi Rusty and All, Well, of course I had to check the archives once again, grin. And, no, the official press release, the message also sent to the list by Jonathan Mosen last year, clearly says that there will only be one more upgrade for the classics after 7.2. So, I think the confusion and misunderstanding comes in because of Maurice referring to working on KS 8 in that email of November of last year, as well as the urgency of a KS release now because of the SSL email issue, an urgency that Maurice mentioned as at least being part of the reason the increased Word support couldn't be included in this release now. Thus, my only point in my previous message, was to say that, because the classic users may have started to hope for another KS release because of all this confusion, that perhaps they deserved a better response from HW than to essentially be told to read the web site.
But, seeing as I mentioned the archives, here is the link to that email of last August, as well as the quoted text in question after the link: http://list.humanware.com/archives/braillenote/2006-August/056032.html The transplant programme will continue into the foreseeable future , giving customers access to the many benefits available exclusively on BrailleNote and VoiceNote mPower. However, as we start to plan for exciting future enhancements to KeySoft, it is becoming clear that many of the features we wish to add are not technically possible on the Classic platform. On that basis, HumanWare is giving notice that KeySoft 7.2 will be the second to last upgrade available for the Classic family. There will be a final update for BrailleNote classic released next year. For this reason, once KeySoft 7.2 is released, software maintenance agreements will no longer be available for the BrailleNote and VoiceNote Classic. We wish to stress that technical support and servicing will still be available for BrailleNote Classic, which continues to be a powerful information management tool. I seem to recall this, possibly announced when 7.0 was released. Maurice, I think the trouble here is that, for those of us with good memories, it seems that hw is changing their minds at this point, saying a few months ago that 8.0 would be the last, now saying that 7.5 will be the last. I have an MPpower so I'm not stressed, but those of you with classics, and no way to upgrade them now should certainly do a search and hold hw's feet to the fire if indeed an hw employee said 8.0 would be the last for the classics.
