Hi Kylie, and welcome to the list.
I'm not sure if this could happen, but it is possible that the BrailleNote has "forgotten" the settings for both Terminal and Remote Synthesizer. In this case, try sections 2.9 and 2.10 in the user guide. At least on my mPower they talk about Terminal for Screen Reader and Remote Synthesizer respectively. I'd love to hear what it's like using your PK (or any other form of BrailleNote/VoiceNote) as either a Braille display or a remote synthesizer. Thanks in advance for sharing, and hope that helps you Kylie. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kylie Forth" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Subject: [Braillenote] General introduction and braille terminal question

Hi everyone

I've just joined the list and after looking through the archives have learnt
that it is tradition for new list members to introduce themselves.

I've already found the archives very interesting and useful; I now know
about grade 3 braille, the Tetris game, and have gotten to know a few of
you. In fact, since joining the list I haven't done any study (I'm at uni),
I've been too busy reading and sussing out games etc.

I'm using a PK in Australia, and although it seems that the majority of you are using MPowers in the US, I've stumbled across a few posts from PK users.
And of course, BrailleNotes are practically the same with a few individual
differences between models.

Now to my question. I set up my PK as a braille display for JAWS around 10
months ago, but now can't remember how to reestablish the connection. I
recall that plugging the serial cable into both machines and going into the
"terminal for screen reader" automatically started the process. However,
this no longer works.

I have ensured that BrailleNote is the active display in the JAWS Option
Menu, and select "serial" when I enter the terminal. I cannot find the
terminal (or Remote Synthesiser for that matter) in the Table of Contents or
Index. Can someone please point me to the relevant section or suggest why
this is not working?

I'm running 7.2, but actually set up the Terminal while running version 6.

Thanks

Kylie
