Hi Rob and list,
Although I agree with Rob's suggestion about increased Flash, there are some
limitations:
* Again, 802.11N requires CE upgrade.
* Internal WiFi cards, although useful, may potentially shorten BN's battery
life (a remedy would be introduction of high capacity battery).
Cheers,
Joseph P.S. This post was meant to clarify some technical difficulties.

Well Sony's VAIO UX390N Micro PC (running Vista) has a 32 GB Flash hard
drive and I'm not sure how much that drive costs (sadly flash memory right
now is expensive) but that's what I'm thinking about. This could really put
the BrailleNote on top by having 32 GB of flash memory. The Icon has 30 GB
of memory, but it's on a mechanical hard drive, so this could really put the
BrailleNote ahead. Also I'm thinking about a possibility of removing the PC
card slot and putting in a WiFi N card in it's place because the 802.11 N is
the brand new WiFi standard and G has been around for several years so I
doubt N is going anywhere any time soon. For those of you who are wondering,
don't worry, the N radio is backwards compatible with G routers. I also
suggest the internal WiFi card because it looks to me like WiFi cards and
Bluetooth cards are disappearing from store shelves (I haven't seen them
when I browse for memory; understand that I don't shop for memory much, but
when I do most of the memory i've seen is on thumb drives). If not an
internal card then the ability to recognize, and place into the Connectivity
Menu under the options, a USB WiFi adapter. Also, I think the BrailleNote's
KeySync should be made available for Mac. If any of you on the list listened
to the presentation on Main Menu about Leopard, I think the Braille Display
support is worth the upgrade in itself. I'm a Mac user (partially sighted,
use the built in magnifier), and I have NEVER had a problem with either of
my two Mac systems, and it looks to me like blind Mac users are slowly
growing, so I can see a lot of bennefits of having a cross platform version
of KeySync. Anyone else think this would work?

hardware should be upgraded?
Yes it would be good if we could have spreadsheet capability and removable
batteries as well. It might be appropriate for the hardware to be upgraded,
but buying a new BrailleNote can be expensive. I am not saying that your
suggestion isn't a good one, but I do understand if people say that it would
be too expensive to upgrade the hardware. Actually these are good
suggestions.

>I was just wondering. Things like the FM radio and Eloquence,
were those requested or not? Sometimes i've seen (in general) companies
create things no one has asked for. I'd much rather like to see a
spreadsheet in place of the FM radio, and like someone on here suggested (my
apologies for not being able to remember your name), Eloquence should be
removed or the hardware should be upgraded (in my opinion overhauled). The
reason I bring this up is because I really am starting to wonder about
HumanWare's devotion to the BrailleNote. Understand that I am NOT trying to
knock anyone. I understand whole heartedly that these things take time
(programming stuff), but I'm not sure if a removable battery has been
suggested on the list or not (if it has, it obviously hasn't happened yet).
Many notetakers (the Voice Sense & Braille Sense by GW Micro, and the Icon &
Braille Plus by LevelStar, for example) have removable batteries and I
haven't heard any complaints. Also an IM client I
> remember has been suggested and has generated considerable
interest, this was before KeySoft 7.5, I was wondering if that's going to
come to pass or not. If someone could reassure me here (about any of these
items) I'd very highly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
