Hi,
It is my understanding that the service agreement doesn't cover a
battery anyway. I do realize it covers the cost of cleaning and
repairs but I am not convinced that it is worth $500 a year. I
really would like to hear from others who do choose to purchase
the service agreement on their BN and their reasons for doing so.
I have let mine expire and am somewhat anxious about it but
simply don't have $500 a year to plunk down if I am only going to
have to have it cleaned or a minor repair done occasionally. I
have only had my unit for a little over a year so any thoughts on
this are appreciated. My main concern is of course the braille
display. Do problems really occur that often?
Sincerely,
Nikki B.

Subject: [Braillenote] Service agreements?
I was told by HumanWare this morning that I am unable to buy a
service
agreement on my Braille note, why? Because it is a transplant!
I don't
think I have heard this one before, but maybe I just missed it.
I guess this means that any cleanings, battery replacements, or
anything
else will be paid for at my expense plus! Not happy about this
since I know
the costs will be high for me. My transplants were completed in
January and
February 2006, and I paid for service through 2007, called to
update and
although I can buy SMAs for the products, I cannot buy a service
agreement,
not even to have battery changes.
The policy seems harsh all because I choose to use my working
Braille
display and save all of us money!
