Hi Malaina: Here is how you can check to see how your network is set up. In this case, as has ben pointed out, network means your wireless router. 1. Go to the computer connected to the router via the ethernet cable. 2. Go into Internet Explorer. 3. Press control-O like you are going to open a web page. When the combo edit box comes up, type: 192.168.0.1 and press enter. 4. If this fails to get you to a login prompt, then do control-O again, and type: 192.168.1.0.
One of these two sets of numbers, which are called IP Addresses, should log you into your router. 5. You will get to a place where you can enter in a user name and password. The user name is usually "admin" and there is no password. Now, look for links on the page that comes up which have anything to do with wireless. For example, you might see a link that ends with "wireless.html." Press enter. Make sure wireless internet or wireless radio is on. There is a field called SSID, make sure you know what it is. By default, SSID is set to "default." YOU SHOULD CHANGE THIS and enable WEP for security. If you see a place where it says to use WEP and either a check box or radio button is enabled for it, then find the edit box that will probably be below that. Press enter to turn forms mode on or browse mode off, depending on what screen reader you are using. Then, you can type in your own WEP key. They usually have to be at least 10 digits long. Note what the key is you typed in. Finally, look for a link or button that says to save settings and press enter on it. You will hear a message like "the device is restarting." Once this happens, your router should be set up to do wireless access. You can then set up the wireless connection on the Braille Note.
