Hi Carol,
As many people suggested, tell your friend to try a different charger and/or outlet. If it charges but if it loses the ability to charge after some point, this usually means that it is time for battery recalibration. But first, while her BrailleNote is being charged, tell her to perform DOTS 4-5-6 Reset (to clear Memory and registry) and Service Reset (Reset with Record to restart battery compartment). Then tell her to wait five minutes and see if she notices any differences in charging status. Here's the explanation why: I happened to have this problem and was told that the battery might be in Trickle Charging mode, where battery charge and discharge is at its equilibrium - that is, while the battery is being charged, the same amount of current is discharged as well. For some reason, the BrailleNote might think that it is in trickle mode even though the charger is connected. This happens often, and a reliable solution is Service Reset. I'll also have to remind whoever sold the BrailleNote that, even though this guy claims that BrailleNote was never opened, it is a good idea to check the BrailleNote before selling it - to make sure that battery has enough charge (this is the prime suspect of this problem), check the display and so forth. This is beceaeven though the BN was "never" opened, it loses a small percentage of its charge regularly.
Cheers,
Joseph P.S. Does my post explain this in simple language for you?

Subject: [Braillenote] battery problem

Hello list, I am writing this in behalf of a
friend.
She just purchased a bn bt more-power from an
individual who
claimed it has never been out of the box.
When she received it she put it on the
charger for 48 hours.
After the 48 hours it had a charge of only 14
percent.
She used it a little and now it will not
charge at all.
Does anyone have a suggesttion for her?
I thank you in advance for your help.

Carol
