Ottawa Canada Dear Carol and list:
Sounds to me like your friend needs to call Humanware Tech Support for an RMA to get the battery replaced and if the unit doesn't have a version 6s I think it is hardware revision, the motherboard upgraded to that version. I believe the motherboard upgrade is free although she should ask about prevailing prices before requesting the upgrade. Your friend should also discuss with the seller about either sharing, or the seller paying the full cost of battery replacement. If the unit truly appeared to have never been out of the box, the battery may have died of old age at no fault of the seller. If the unit was purchased from Mr. C. J. Sampson, your friend should know that his claims are said to be controversial and some people have called them much worse. However a friend of mine bought a Power Braille 40 from him and it worked fine. However when she needed to send it in for service quite a while later, she found it had no serial number!
