Kevin and Jenny,
I didn't follow the whole thread about these conversion deals when the list sort of ignited a month or two ago because of the report that Humanware was no longer able to obtain or fix the older braille elements, so I don't know if there was some satisfactory resolution to this situation. If that is still the same deal, then I would be reluctant to sink a couple thousand dollars into a conversion using her old braille display elements and have no hardware warranty or maintenance agreement available, should any part of the old display fail after a month, year, or whenever. If that is the case, then I would be looking for any funding sources that might help going straight to purchase of a new unit with all new parts and have a HMA available or just save up for the new unit rather than convert. Maybe someone else who did follow the previous thread on this subject could jump in here and give current correct information about the old braille display warranty situation.

Jenny,

There is a transplant solution that will allow for you to upgrade
from the
Classic BrailleNote to the mPower and at the the same time you
can upgrade
to the latest KeySoft 7.5 Build 28. I would get in contact with
the
HumanWare Customer Service department for further detail.

Kevin

Subject: [Braillenote] Introduction

Hello all! My name is Jenny, and I am new to the list, although
not new to
the braille note. I actually have what seems like an ancient
braille note
classic running Keysoft 5.0, but am desperately searching for
ideas as to
how I can upgrade. I am strongly considering upgrading Keysoft
itself to
7.5, but upon reading a couple of previous posts on this list, it
appears
there may actually be a way to upgrade my classic to the M-power
while
keeping my current braille display, which I suspect would drop
the cost
significantly. If anybody would be willing to share a little
more
information as to how this can be accomplished or can point me in
the right
direction to find out myself, it would be greatly appreciated.
Otherwise, I
simply wanted to introduce myself, say hello and add that I look
forward to
learning more from everyone here!

Thanks!

Jenny
