Hi Richard, Hmmm, you have a good point. If there is still a significant amount of uncertainty concerning the transplants, I can't afford to sink a couple thousand dollars into it either. I will be interested to hear folks' thoughts on the subject.
Thanks, Jenny -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Richard Ehrler Sent: Thursday, February 28, 2008 7:18 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [Braillenote] Introduction Kevin and Jenny, I didn't follow the whole thread about these conversion deals when the list sort of ignited a month or two ago because of the report that Humanware was no longer able to obtain or fix the older braille elements, so I don't know if there was some satisfactory resolution to this situation. If that is still the same deal, then I would be reluctant to sink a couple thousand dollars into a conversion using her old braille display elements and have no hardware warranty or maintenance agreement available, should any part of the old display fail after a month, year, or whenever. If that is the case, then I would be looking for any funding sources that might help going straight to purchase of a new unit with all new parts and have a HMA available or just save up for the new unit rather than convert. Maybe someone else who did follow the previous thread on this subject could jump in here and give current correct information about the old braille display warranty situation.
