Hi Nikki and list,

I recently had similar problems.
I started getting more messages like "The operation completed successfully", and "The drive could not find the sector requested", mostly when using KeyMail.
After deleting some email, I tried a free database space.
At this point the "Email folders.cdb" was about 8.4MB, and there was > 27MB free on the Flash disk.
I also had a bit more than 1400 messages across all my folders.
The free database failed - can't remember the error, only that it was very conclusive. I got an "Email folders.cdb" of just a few KB if That and couldn't use it.

Fortunately, before doing this, I took a backup on to SD card of the Email folders definition file and database and the rest of the Keymail directory. I then refreshed that directory by deleting it then a reset - normal one I think. I can still get at the old email by setting the Address List file of KeyList at the saved Email folders.
It's not so easy to access, but is possible.
With templates, you can also copy out of the saved database into documents.

Regards,
Steve.

P.s., Hw said "The drive can not find the sector" is down to software, and I think means file corruption.

Subject: [Braillenote] My BN is acting crazy

Hi all,

I am sincerely hoping Joseph or someone out there can help me. I
do not want to send this unit in if at all possible. My BN just
today started acting very stupid. I first noticed a problem when
I was trying to free database space in the keymail program. It
would beep as if it was working and then it would say something
like "Not enough room on the disk". My flash drive is nowhere
near full so I didn't understand that one. I went through and
deleted a lot of old e-mail. Now the unit has performed the
"freeing database space" operation but it is now giving me
various other error messages or just plain odd messages. When I
try to move an e-mail from the inbox to a folder, sometimes it
works fine and sometimes it gives an error beep but says the
operation completed successfully. I had gone through 4 or 5 of
these where I thought I had moved the e-mail to another folder
and it beeped and said it had completed successfully (not normal)
but the e-mail appeared to have moved. All of a sudden, the
e-mails were right back in the inbox. I just recently upgraded
to the newest build. Could that have something to do with this
strange behavior? Oh, also when I exit out of the inbox, the unit
tells me the disk cannot find the requested sector or something
like that. This is the first extremely quirky problem I have had
with the BN. Should I try a service reset? I have tried the
"JKL" and also the "ASD" resets. Any advice is appreciated. I am
sure Tech Support will just tell me to send it in and I would
like to try whatever else i can first.

Thanks so much!
Nikki B.
