Yes, dead right. It's better to keep up the updates, so you pay whether it's of any use to you or not so that you can (when available) go to the next step. Yes, they have our money time and again ...

I also feel that the push to use GPS as a trial is a bit of froth, since all this would appear to need is for an agreement with Sendero to have a trial version available for those who want it. It is not a matter of updating software from 7.5 to use this programme currently so no real extra work on the part of Humanware.

Upgrades must be sequential. If you are at 7.0 right now, you
have to buy 7.5 and 8.0. The price will get higher with each
upgrade you skip; I find it easier to keep up than to try and
play catch-up when I see a feature I really want.

Have a great day,

Two other questions.
1. Will we have to get both upgrades if we skip this one, but want
the next one?
2. Does the price of the upgrade change over time?

I agree on all points. A Windows CE upgrade has been long over
due, which will have many benefits, such as access to Word 2007
files, actual support for Bluetooth and many other things.. For
example, here at college; the only format that is used is Word 2007,
which is not at all supported by the BrailleNote. I have been a
great supporter of the BrailleNote and have done Beta Testing for
HumanWare in the past, but where is the CE upgrade? For this very
reason, many have migrated to other platforms, such as the Braille
Sense Plus, Braile Sense, Voice Sense and PAC Mate. Yes, it is
great that there is support for BookShare once again, which I along
with many others should have been in the form of a patch. Yes, it
is also great that there is support for Audible, NIMAS and other
such things but this shouldn't have been the main focus. The main
focus should have been upgrading the Windows CE OS< which has been
promised by HumanWare for two releases now, KeySoft 7.5 and 8.0.

This is almost like forcing everyone to still run Windows 98 or
2000, while the rest of the world is using XP, Vista or Windows 7
Beta!

Subject: RE: [Braillenote] Press Release: KeySoft 8.0

Hi All:

On initial read and from reading other comments on this list, I have
just a couple things to say. First, I am pleased that Keysoft 8.0
will support the new BookShare site, even though I still believe
this should have been released as a patch.

I am disappointed in three things. First, KS8.0 doesn't include a
Windows Mobile upgrade. As someone else said, this is going to not
allow the BrailleNote to be as powerful as its competitors. The
Pacmate is already running Windows Mobile 6; I do not know what
version the Braille Sense is running.

Second, folks like Nicole and others have asked for better word
support. While I realize this is in part up to Microsoft to help
make happen, I would appreciate hearing from HW on what plans they
have to enhance Word support, particularly with Word 2007 being in
use more and more, and why it appears that nothing has been done to
incorporate better word support into KS8.0.

Finally, there is no mention of Keymail supporting direct access to
HTML e-mails. And, how long have we been asking for this?

Thanks,
