Hi John,
Along with most of our friends on this list, I'm disappointed
with the lack of new features and fixes in keysoft 8. But like
you, I still love my PK. One of the best things about the PK is
it's size, proving that sometimes the best things are small.
I doubt whether I'll get keysoft 9 when it comes along because
I'd have to buy the previous version as well. however, it's
possible that so few people will avail themselves of ks 8 that
humanware may be forced to provide those of us who didn't upgrade
with some kind of offer or insentive to upgrade to version 9 when
it comes out.
Regards, Richard.

Hi Louise
There is no reason you shouldn't add your own comments, that's
what
the list is for. Having said that, I suppose you invite comments
from others.
Reading your email you have a lot to complain about and not much
to
say that is in any way possitive. If you don't like Vista, which
isn't particularly inaccessible as far as I know, then why not
buy a
laptop with XP. Yes it can still be done, dell for one are doing
it,
or you could get a Windows downgrade CD. There is nothing at all
stopping you from installing Linux on your laptop if you think
it's
the answer to everything. You could get rid of Windows
altogether, or
make your machine dual bootable. You will know from other posts
of
mine that I am very disappointed with Humanware's Keysoft version
8,
but at the end of the day, these machines are called note takers.
As
a note taker I find the Braillenote superb. I turn it on, press
just
a few keys and I'm taking notes. I switch it on in a meeting and
I
have the docs for that meeting under my fingers. I can ask the
questions I inserted in the text and append the answers if I want
to,
all without having to use speech at all which allows me to keep
in
touch with what is going on around me more easily.
The various braille note takers have evolved into fairly poor
PDAs,
but I certainly wouldn't want to be without mine, and I love the
GPS!
Talk soon
John

I have looked at all the comments and don't see why i shouldn't
add my own.
I got given my bn when i left high school 2 and a half years ago,
and i skipped 7.5. However looking at this upgrade, only one
feature looks interesting to me and that's keychat, but i can do
with out it as i use ebuddy.
Also, yes, the bn is a pda, but my uncles n-e-c and blackberry
cell
phones do way more than my braillenote. Really humanware have
excluded most markets, made the bn way behind its competitors and
if
i had the money i'd look at other products.
Also, if microsoft hadn't decided to use dox file, i think that
bns
would have caught up easier.
However i can't stand ms word anyway so it doesn't affect me, but
i
agree that for people who need it, changes should be made.
Html email support should have been added a good while ago.
I just recently got a laptop and am as disappointed with that, as
its running really inaccessible vista. So disappointments aren't
just limited to humanware.
I do agree with upgrades to ce being crucial, even though i
generally have no time for ms.
If only linux could be incorporated into bns and even better off
the
shelf laptops and pcs.
I remember having keysoft 4.6, and back then, at least you got
what
you wanted and needed in upgrades.
Humanware is acting like ms, making modifications they want and
not
really looking at what the user is asking for.
Louise.
