Dear Robert,
I agree with you, I'd say the Apex keys are about half as high as the ones
on the mPower. As I may have mentioned in an earlier post, I found that
typing on the Apex keyboard required much less force than did the keyboard
on the mPower.
The center control is called a Scroll Wheel because, aside from the five
different navigation keys you mention, the middle portion, the part
surrounding the Enter button, does turn. If you're sitting over Main Menu,
and rotate it to the right, you will see Wordprocessor, Planner, Address
List, and so forth, just as though you had hit Space or Advance. Turning
the Scroll Wheel to the left moves in reverse, just as Backspace or Back do.
Also, because I don't think anyone has mentioned it previously, the Scroll
Wheel has five or six raised lines, running from its outer edge to the
Enter button, which give you an idea of just how far you've turned the
wheel. I think there were six of these, but can't be sure. I think the
reason it doesn't get in the way while typing is that it isn't as high as
the Braille input keys themselves, which is good, since it'd be pretty
frustrating otherwise.
I hope that helps.

Hello Alex,
When I looked at it yesterday, from what I could tell, the keys are about
half the height of the keys on the Mpower.
I would say, the the keys that make up the wheel, are not quite as high as
the keys you use to type with.
I am not sure why they call it a wheel, because it is more like a 5 way
navigation key having the ok key in the middle and a top bottom left and
right button surrounding the ok key.
I hope that helps,
Robert Stigile

Please describe the wheel more. You say it is flush, but then that it is
as
high as the keys? Do the keys not stick up as much anymore?
Have a great day,
Alex

Hello All,
Yesterday, I got my first look at the Apex.
I can't wait to own one.
I was imagining the wheel would be something sticking up on the unit,
but
it is flush, and not any higher then the keys.
The braille seems to be more crisp then the cells on the mpower, and it
is
so lightweight I couldn't believe it.
I have lost sd cards before with my mpower, but with the Apex, I don't
see
that happening, because it is a tighter spring, so it seems to stay in
the
unit better.
Have a great day.
