Hi,
That's the norm. Personaly, I use that command to disgard changes, with
KeyWord warning me, "abandoning KeyWord." The confusion might be that the
users would assume that pressing exit command would save their data, which
is not true for certain doc types.
Cheers,
Joseph

I know why you lose changes, but what frustrates me to no end is that
pressing space-e from the "save as a keyword document" prompt will,
with no warning, cause all your changes to be lost. I still remember
finding this out by exiting this prompt on a class final several years
ago, then opening up the final to print it only to find all my answers
GONE! Keysoft never warned me that this would happen; all I did was
exit from a prompt, which I should be able to do without worrying that
it will destroy data.

Hi,
Good points. I'd like to slightly differ on that though: Most of this
comes
from how these files are structured. The conversion process from
non-KeyWord
type to KeySoft type not only translates from one grade to another, but
also
adds special markers and other useful data to the file. As for Zach's
post,
as Alex said, pressing ENTER would actually skip "review options" prompt
altogether until you open the file again.
As for losing data, there is a story behind it (somewhat of a non-trivial
one): When you work with open files, you are working with another copy of
the file in question. The original copy is still located on a storage
device
and the "active" copy is stored on physical memory. This may sound odd,
but
it makes sense, since computers need to load the file to RAM before
opening
it. As a consequence, when you quit a document, the resulting changes
will
not be saved, since the storage device version of the file would not have
been modified. The only time the storage device version would be modified
is
when you actually save the file (either via "save" command or exiting the
program).
I'll rrite a detailed explanation on the next post. Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Joseph

I agree with Zachary Dreicer. The user is constantly forced to
answer a prompt that is not wanted 95% of the time. And if you
one time accidentally exit without answering, you lose your newly
edited data altogether, not good.

dude, you can set what format files are saved as by default, and
those
review options you find so annoying are used to translate
documents if you
wish too to grade 2 on the fly. it's not that hard to get past
it is it?

i'm tired of some documents wanting to be saved as keyword
documents.
Also, I'm tired of braillenote asking about reviewing the
options and
reviewing previous options when opening such file types as doc,
rtf, and
brf. My suggestion is to make a separate menu under format, or
something.
It may be good for some users, but for me, it's just extra junk.
Thanks.
