Thanks, Kirstyn. I did find that deleting the messages to the trash was the fastest way. It does take a few seconds but it is better than waiting for two hours or more to delete 200 messages you have marked as read.

Hi Paul,

In my experience, if I open a folder like the InBox, and move one message to the Trash folder, it will take some time. This happens not only when moving, replying or forwarding an email right after the folder containing it is opened. But when I do the same to the next emails in that folder--delete, move, reply or forward--it will not take as long. So I move to the Trash one email as soon as I open the InBox--the command is CONTROL with 8 or BACKSPACE with dots 2356--and then I mark the rest that I want to delete--the command for marking is CONTROL with SPACE or SPACE with m--then I execute the delete command to move all of them to the Trash. Since this is not the first time I executed a command in the folder, the messages are deleted faster compared to what happens if I marked all of them before using the command on just one email first. If I mark ten messages right away, then moving them to Trash takes about 3.5 minutes. If I delete the first one only, it takes about 30 seconds; and when I mark the other nine and delete them as a group, it takes about 30 seconds also--a total of roughly just one minute. I wonder if this will work for others as it does with me. In summary, delete only one email first, then mark the others you want to move to Trash and execute the delete command.

I hope this helps,
Kirstyn
