> Hi all,

Need a little advice on my 8 year old B2. All of a sudden I'm getting a ton
of steam coming out of the brewhead when I pull some water through it
without the portafilter, prior to pulling my shots. I'm also having the
thermal cutoff popping on me, on top of the brew boiler. And, twice
today, I got an "E1" code come up on the display. The first time, I shut
off the machine and let it cool and it went away and the 2nd time, I
adjusted the Pstat and it just went away.

Now I'm adding this to this post on the PID because when I called tech supp
at WLL, they told me it's either the Pstat valve or the PID controller.
I just replaced the Pstat about 3-4 months ago. Never touched the PID
before, but have been reading the posts about the new one. The thing is, to
replace the PID with the same unit is about $50 vs. $235 for the
newer version.

Have you guys REALLY noticed a significant improvement in your shots for
that extra $185??? Will the difference be more significant than when the
beans get a little stale? My experience is that is by far the biggest issue
with taste.
And what is your opinion about my symptoms, PID vs. Pstat or something
else?

Thanks very much, you guys have always helped me out.
I tell people you're my coffee "support group"...

Merry Christmas,
Jim
