One further note on gay marriages: It may sound funny or even hypocritical, but while I support civil unions for gay couples, I'm not really comfortable with the idea of calling it a "marriage." I *want* my sister and her girlfriend to be able to formalize their long-term relationship, adopt if they want to, all that jazz, but something about calling their union a "marriage" makes me itch.
