That is certainly a difficult question, but it's not one that science can deal with at all, since it is a "why" question rather than a "how." If we were created as described in the Bible, it is our free will that allows us to do evil things. As for the "freedom" of viruses and such, that's a much tougher question, as far as I'm concerned, but it has to do with the "fallen world" metaphor.
