Buying, taking very good care of it, and replacing it no sooner than 8
years after the original purchase, unless your job requires you use your
personal vehicle for entertaining clients or something.
Of course, the first new car either Dan or I ever owned was purchased
earlier this year; the previous 5 cars we've collectively owned were
bought used, and the general attitude of both his family and mine was
"drive it into the ground". So, keep that in mind when considering any
car advice *I* give.
If you let people know what your situation is as far as what, exactly, you
need the car *for*, better advice could be offered.
