The latter - or, more accurately, that none _should_ (I'm sure it's possible to find one who has), and that if one did, everyone would attack him/her, and they _should_ do so. The fact that Robert Byrd - the seniormost Democrat in the Senate - is a former Klan leader is an embarassment to the whole country.
