Charlene and I swapped out a majority of our incandescents for those
double helix-looking flourescents several months ago, and I really
can't tell the difference in the lighting. I'll have to ask her if
our electrical bill's gone down in a noticeable way, though.

The best part of our little conservation attempts? JCP&L offers a
program where you can spend a little extra per kilowatt hour to have
your power supplied by alternate fuels. We chose a combination of
wind and biomass. So I get to say that our house is lighted by poo
gas, which delights my inner 8-year-old. :-)

Regarding the elimination of the incandescent, it's my understanding
that they're not likely to really go away any time soon because there
are certain things the flourescents can't currently do because of size
and design constraints. Maybe LEDs can take incandescent's places
eventually in chandeliers and the like?
