Becaue for years the right has taken to castigating the left for being 
imnoral and used this as a political club.  When you do this and it turns out that 
you are guilty of the same sins the other side has every right to point out 
that you are a hippocrite. Also the left truely is more tolerant of human frailty 
and less likely to attack someone for less than ideal behavior (because they 
are not hippocritical)
