I'm another one of the hula-free Clapham players who was hoping to pick up this weekend (at least until I sprained my ankle last week). I want to be there to see how CU get on, and I quite fancied the idea of playing with mates I haven't played with for a couple of years. Some of those mates play for teams down in the middle to lower reaches of the Tour. Whether I'd presume to be able to "help them develop and learn" is another matter (they'd quite rightly tell me to f*&% off if I showed up and then tried to tell them "how we do it on Clapham..." all weekend :-) Question is: i) would little old me actually be able to make much of a difference on a team ranked, say, 30th? Very probably not. In my case, it's looking like a bit of a moot point - injury and recent Tour rules mayhem have encouraged me to stay home with the DIY this weekend. Yes, common sense should prevail, but I appreciate that it's tricky to codify that kind of common sense into the Tour rules. Oh, just for the record, it wasn't strictly "Clapham 2" that pulled out of last year's Tour IV. Clapham 2 had pretty much a full squad at Leeds, it was a number of "Clapham 1" players that were injured (or "winjured") after the exertions of Prague, and failed to show up on Saturday morning.
