Dear Tour 4 participants, As you know we have had (and rejected) a number of requests to bend the Tour rules for the benefit of teams going to the World Club Championships in Hawaii. It is the view of the UKU board that these rules should be respected. However, after pleading from two of the teams in question (Druids and Chevron Mixed) we have agreed to put this matter to the other teams in the Tour who might end up playing them. In the case of the Druids, if we receive no objections from teams in the 1-16 bracket (or from Marty McFly) then we would be prepared to allow them their requested pick-up. In the case of Chevron Mixed, if we receive no objections from teams seeded 1-24 then we would be prepared to allow their requested pick-ups. Below are the requests from Druids and Chevron Mixed and also the seedings for the tournament. I would like objections against either of the requests from *official team representatives* sent to me by 5pm on Friday afternoon at the latest. We are not prepared to offer this to the Clapham 2 players as their team intentionally dropped out of the tournament and agreeing to their request could not benefit any teams attending the World Clubs. Ben Ravilious UKU President ============================================================== REQUEST FROM FLUID DRUIDS Dear All I am writing on behalf of Fluid Druids to ask a boon of you all. We would like to have Frank Collins (Martie Mcfly & Mythago) play for us at Tour 4 as he has now joined our squad to go to Hawaii. The facts We started with a squad of 17 (we have proven ourselves to be to incompetent to run a larger squad) Karl Mann was badly injured at Eastbourne removing him until at least Nationals. He plays a minimum of 60% of all points. We have 5 other whinjuries / injuries which have left us with 11 / 12 players come the end of the last 3 outdoor tournies we have entered. Hawaii is going to be hot and hard so we decided to add to our numbers. Frank has trained with us (he is keen) over the last month looking to improve his game. This makes him the obvious choice. We asked him to join us 8 days ago and immeadiately asked the UKU's permission. Our situation was not reasonably foreseeable The reasons we want you to help The above show we need help! Having Frank play a Tour will help him "gel" with the team and also enable him to step up his level of play before we have him on pitch in Hawaii. It will help us to play better in Hawaii hence improving a British teams chances. The reason against. Its against Tour rules. We need your help. The UKU has kindly let us ask you the teams and players directly. If one team objects Frank will not play for us in the Tour. Thankyou for your time Fluid Druids ============================================================== REQUEST FROM CHEVRON MIXED Chevron coed would like to alter their roster for tour iv. The squad would like to include up to 3 of their male players who are going to Hawaii. These players have been playing for Whey and Fusion at previous Tours. Why are we doing this? We always wanted to make this change in Tour IV if possible for the following reasons: 1. Whey and Fusion would have been substantially weakened if we had played with the full Hawaii squad in all events and this would have damaged the long term prospects for those teams 2. At the same time, Chevron coed is representing UK ultimate. It is important for us as a team, and as UK representatives, to have the best preparation possible. Every opportunity to play together will help us greatly, especially now the WUCC is just 2 weeks away. This will undoubtedly improve our squad for this weekend; it will also weaken the squads we are taking players from. We hope this will not be seen as a malicious intent to improve our position in the tour rankings - our aim in the Open tour has not been to achieve the best possible tour ranking, but to allow the team to gain valuable playing experience. This weekend is the final stage in the strategy that we planned back in April.
