15 MARCH 2003 (2 DAYS) - BONGO'S DOUBLES MATCHPLAY GRAND FINAL Location: Green Park Centre, Aylesbury, Bucks - [Disc Golf, Double Disc Court, Other Event] The annual Disc Golf Doubles Matchplay tournament is very popular and has a unique competition atmosphere. The team matchplay format guarantees exciting disc golf action, high pressure putts and David versus Goliath match ups. The weekend is the finale of the 6 event Winter Doubles Series. There are two 12 hole courses to be played over the weekend, with baskets. The first round of match ups tee off Saturday morning and the competition continues through the weekend until the final on Sunday afternoon. Don't worry if you don't have a doubles partner, the tournament committee will endeavour to match up players without a partner, just get in touch first. Footbag The Bongos have booked the sports hall and are welcoming footbaggers together for the first meet of it kind in many a year. There will be freestyle, circle kicking and net sessions. The deadline for all entrants is Monday 31st of March. ENTRY FEE - £145 per team A (hopefully satisfactory) discount of £20 is available for student teams i.e. £125. CAMPING/B&B – On site camping available (free of charge) with 24hr toilet facilities open to all. Changing rooms with hot showers will be readily accessible. A list of local B&B / Guest Houses is available. The camp site will be accessible from Friday evening, and the sports ground are keeping their bar open until around 2300hrs for anyone wishing to have a few beers before bed. GRUB/PARTY – There are two food and drink outlets at Tour 1, the cafeteria / bar and the Marquee with BBQ. Price list for food and drink is attached. These are available all day Saturday and Sunday as well as Saturday evening. Tom Styles is leading the party with his “Disco” and there is a late licence till 1am (currently applied for). There is now an attached room for the disco and separate bar area so we shouldn’t be quite so pushed for space this year. DIRECTIONS FOR THE SPORTS GROUND - From North, South, East or West: M5 – exit at Jct 19. Follow A369 towards Bristol for approximately 4 miles on a windy road through small villages until you see a narrow turning on the right hand side signed posted for Clifton Sports Ground. (Watch out as this turning can creep up on you – if you get to the traffic lights, you have gone too far! – this does not include the pedestrian crossing lights at the George Inn at Abbots Leigh Village). CAMPSITE - Instead of turning into the sports ground you continue up to the traffic lights and turn right. 350 yards on the right hand side you will see a gate. New, novice or ninth in the world - ALL are welcome. Many of the UK's leading players will be competing. There will also be provisions for other sports - DDC, Freestyle and Footbagging. The 80 acre site has restricted public accesss, the grounds are immaculate and the facilities include a swimming pool, residential blocks and a purpose built camp site. The 12 hole temporary basket course has been designed to offer good challenge to experienced players and also to appeal to those who have never played before or are new to the sport. For players only interested in playing one day only (Saturday or Sunday), there is the 'day pass option'. On Saturday night all players are invited to the Rising Sun public house (10 mins walk from the first tee) for dinner, refreshments and banter.
