Tom,

In return for experienced players helping you out there's an awful lot you can do to
grow the sport in you local area.

Its also easy to offer suggestions about "starting a scheme like this in other areas
of ultimate", and much much more difficult to actually do all that you can with your
own resources to grow the sport in the own area. Start your own scheme.

Most experienced players have jobs and are therefore not ideal for teaching school
children. However most university students have ample time during the week, between
all the drinking and trisha, for a quick hour or two at a local school.

As a starting point why not write a short letter to the nearest 3 schools to your
university offering some of your team members to provide a demonstration of the sport
and a bit of coaching. I know that you might not feel good enough to provide coaching
but it doesn't take much exposure to the game to get the ball rolling at a school.
Then organise a junior tournament at the end of the term and invite them along.

And before I get all this thrown back at me;

Flyght Club are starting women's only indoor practices in Nottingham 7-8pm on a Monday
night, £2 a person. Coaching will be by yours truly. Send me an email if you are
interested.

Flyght Club are also hosting our 4th year of women's only tournaments on the 13th 14th
of November.

Next summer we'll be starting a Scouts League for local Scout groups and also a
Nottingham Summer league.

We are also in the midst of organising a large recruitment campaign from local gyms
and sports clubs.

See you at the conference this weekend.

yeah acknowledged, and i am really pleased to see this sort of scheme finally taking
off, having been discussed a while back.

was just wondering if there was going to be a joint effort among the committee (ie.
open and junior committee reps) to gets similar efforts going in their areas of
ultimate?

as a suggestion, perhaps pre-emptive or jumping the gun a little, but would it be
possible to make this list available or at least advertise it to
schools/youth-groups(as well as unis) once its been compiled, who might want to teach
ultimate but are in need of assistance. I'd assume most people who are willing to
coach uni students would also be willing to teach secondary/college age pupils as
well...?

not that i'm tyring to suggest any kind of full-burden rests on anyone here - i
appreciate you are womens committee rep and therefore only dircetly resonsible for
womens ultimate development (strange coincidence that, eh? ;-)
