We are definitely going to poll teams very soon as to whether they would enter a Mixed Division if LWL ran a Mixed Division alongside the Open Division.
Maria - please contact me ASAP with any news on whether you would like us to include a Women's Division as well. My initial thoughts were that there are not yet enough women's teams in London to sustain this and that the Mixed Division would be a good start in giving London women better Ultimate choices through the winter, but if you think otherwise then we can run with a separate Division. Also, I am sure that noone would have any objections to Iceni playing in the Mixed Division if there is no Women's - that should mean fairer match ups for more of your players, and very competitive games for all. Maybe a Mixed Division this year is the best solution when combined with your 'All-Star' womens events on different weekends? You tell me. Great turnout for the World Games TV coverage yesterday, we had at least 50 or 60 London Ultimateers packed into the George - don't think they know what hit them! -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 25 July 2005 09:06 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED]; Britdisc@near.me.uk; [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [londonleague] RE: [BD] WL Dates I would also like to add that maybe it would be a good idea to have a mixed division in this years winter league? We've seen how well our open and women's teams have been doing internationally and it would be great if we could foster the same drive and talent for the mixed divisions. Not only that but seeing as half the winter league teams already field 2 to 3 women at each point only to find themselves facing off against 7 tall men, it would seem to make sense. Obviously it would depend on interest but I think I could probably name 6 - 8 teams which are effectively mixed teams anyway and who would enjoy the opportunity to practice competitively outside mixed tour. Anyway just an idea.... Is there any interest in a women's division of winter league? Iceni and Bliss took part last year, but I think we may get more out of a women's division in the run up to Perth (some will no doubt say otherwise!). Either way it would be great for the development of our division. Between students, summer league women, Iceni, Bliss, Thundering Herd, No Lo, etc etc there must be easily 150 women players in London. There is also the possibility of foreign teams making the trip as they did last year. If there is enough interest let's continue this discussion on UKUW. There is obviously the potential clash with women's all star events if the intention is to run these next year, lets get talking.....
