Beware, Jamie = http://curezone.com/forums/troll.asp
Uniforms are important for the image of our sport - instead of feeble warnings start deducting 10 Tour points per infringing player as someone suggested (for A Tour only, obviously) and watch how quickly things get into line. It's easy enough to borrow a spare shirt... But how does reading "Jon Palmer" and automatically replying negatively fit in to that? You’ll have to point out the ‘positive’ section in your email to me (pot...kettle). Surely the only point in one replying is if you have a different point of view, indeed why are other people allowed to disagree but not me? >> provided of course that they can see past the ridiculousness of sport. Yes, that WAS my point, it didn’t appear you’d understood that at first... >> So should we give up on all attempts to involve new players and introduce Ultimate to the next generation? What? You are making stuff up now, I didn’t say that! What next, surely you won’t use the word ‘toga’... >> That way they'd get involved thinking of it as a serious activity, not simply an opportunity to wear togas and sing songs..... Oh, you did. How original. The most amusing thing (for me) is that all the people who ‘quote’ what I said get it horribly wrong. Not only do they take it out of context, but I didn’t even use the word toga. I’ll attach the paragraph at the end, try thinking before you give us your ‘thoughts’ next time. >> People are much more likely to offer their help if they know exactly what the consequences will be. For the most part people (players) aren’t likely to offer their help at all, hence the constant requests from the UKUA for volunteers to update the website, get involved with coaching etc etc etc. For the most part anyone could volunteer to do what they’re specifically interested in, I can’t see the offer of help being turned down. Or were you volunteering your whole club en mass? Jaimie Extract from the “toga” email. “As an A-Tour player, I want the main focus of any tournament bid to be the conditions in which I play Ultimate i.e. flat, level, and correctly sized pitches, water at all the pitches, all the time, plenty of space to warm up and down, shelter, plenty of game discs, appropriate catering etc, and I would also like a score/time-keeper at every pitch. I am willing to pay however much this costs, and lets be honest, for most *serious* Ultimate players, tournament fees are a fraction of the overall cost of playing Ultimate. What I do not care about is whether there is a party, whether everyone in the country who has picked up a disc is there, and I certainly do not want teams in fancy dress or who feel the need to sing me a well-rehearsed song after the game, even though they do not know the rules!” Jaimie Cross General Secretary #1 LeedsLeedsLeeds 078767 51813 Andy Cox writes: > > Jaimie wrote: > The first thing the casual observer will notice is that we are chasing a > piece of plastic around a field, which (it may surprise you) the vast > majority of people find ridiculous, whether or not we are wearing matching > kit! > > I'd disagree, I don't think 'most' people find it ridiculous.
