If it is becoming a big workshops with a load of teams doing demo games and coaching, why not also arrange transport to this event from other universities?? The bigger the event the harder to organise, granted, but this sounds like it would be hard to organise anyway. Why not make it a university newspaper worthy event for the uni that hosted it and take along a load of other uni's people?? This could also provide them with insite as to what it is like at a tournement with loads of people from different areas all up for a good laugh.

Most of our new players currently come from university. There are
generally many new comers who had some initial interest but that
initial interest is lost for one reason or another.

Maybe we could assist this interest with a day of display games.
Possibly, the finalists from the Nationals could each play demonstration
games at one university. The university of choice could be decided by
either bids due to facilities (for example covered seating stands, grounds,
etc.) or by competition (maybe the university to sign the most new comers).

After the demonstrations the spectators then get training from the
various players, providing a very big workshop from the best talent
in the country. Of course, other students from differing universities
should be welcome to attend and the winning university should also be
seen to promote the occassion to local schools.

Answers on a postcard!

Sean
