Speaking from experience, it is at tournaments where most players learn a
lot of the rules.
We are a considerable way into the indoor season now and there is no real
reason why people shouldn't know the rules, particularly at a National
competition.
I understand that TDs have the power to pick and choose, to a certain
extent, which rules are used and I also understand how, in the situation
Matt was put in at Women's Nationals, playing by the old pull rules was
easier.
However, it is my feeling that rules as stipulated by UKUltimate should be
used at UKUltimate events. It is each player's responsibility to have an
understanding of these rules and I would certainly be disappointed to now
turn up to a tournament and find out that old rules were being used. If this
was to be the case, I'd at least expect to be informed before I got there.
The only way to get these new rules accepted is to keep playing by them. I
assume that, whenever anyone practices, they use the most current rules?
Surely every team at Womens Nationals had practiced indoors before they got
to the tournament, even if they did not practice as the same team. If this
were the case then there is no reason why the new pull rules should not have
been used.
Just my thoughts and I apologise if they aren't written in the clearest
manner.
