Thanks! I will probably make it "my way" - take my good "Very Pale Ale" and substitute a lager yeast instead. Perhaps I could get a better beer if I followed some instructions, but this is fairly experimental (for me), and the important thing is to learn as much as I can. I can always start a serious production later when I see the results... Besides, I have those materials that I happen to have, and if I want to get started this weekend, I have no time to buy more... Some comments, anyway: > 227 gram Cara-Crystal Where do you get such round numbers from? And do you really measure them to the last gram? > Mash-out: 75 grader i 5 min I have heard of this mash-out before, but never tried, because I mash in a plastic bucket that has no heating, and there is not much room for extra hot water... I supose it is meant to prevent the mash from getting stuck, but that is something I have never experienced anyway. Does it also help in making the beer clearer? > Når urten er løbet fra efter under filtrering, så tilsætter du 75 grader > varmt vand igennem filteret. If I add the water slowly enough, the thermal capacity of the malt will always keep the temperature somewhere under 85. > Lad det gære ved cirka 10 grader i cirka 10 dage > Omstik det til en ny gærtank og lad det gære 10 dage. > Sænk temperaturen til 0 grader og lad det stå en 10 dages tid. Well, I have no fancy temperature-control systems, I have my normal fridge at somewhere around 4 degrees, and room temperature... My guess is that it will work all right, anyway. > Jeg tror, du vil fortryde at du kun lavede 5 liter....... (hvad med at finde > et gammelt køleskab?) Working on it, but it takes time, and I want to get started *now*. The next step is to buy a few more of those 5l bottles, so I can have a few lagers going... The dedicated refridgerator with fine temperature control system will have to wait until I have the time, money, and space for it. Some day "real soon now"... I let you all know how it goes. -H -- Heikki Levanto LSD - Levanto Software Development <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
