Yep, my plastic buckets do the same sort of bubble bursts. It has something to do with the plasitc being somewhat elastic. Once enough pressure has built up to push the water out of the lock, the plastic lid has bent a bit upwards, increasing the diameter. When the lid moves down, I bet it has some inertia, so it wants to move a bit further than the regular zero position, thus pumping a few more bubbles out of the lock. So the system may end up with a small underpressure. In dure time this underpressure will be filled up with CO2, and then the pressure increases, until it is enough to displace the water in the airlock. Naturally we talk of small amounts of pressure here, a few mm H2O. In practice this means that for the same gas production, a plastic bucket will bubble in bursts, and have longer breaks in between, than a solid glass bottle will. Still, 14 minutes sounds like a pretty well finished fermentation. 8 days is maybe a bit short, but with the start you got, it should be perfectly enough. Finally, if that beersphere has some sort of overpressure relief system, then you do not have to worry too much about it. The dangerous thing is with bottles, the only way they can react to overpressure is by exploding. I often keg my ales after a week of fermentation, or even less. The fermentation continues in the keg, and occasionally I let out some of the worst steam. Go for it! And let it mature in the sphere for a week or seven, it will be all the better for it! -Heikki -- Heikki Levanto LSD - Levanto Software Development <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
