Well I saw a post about this certification on Slashdot and I thought I would join the mailing list and see if it is something to take seriously or not. To be honest, that is the largest problem that any kind of BSD certification is going to face; if it will be taken seriously or not. Reading through this I see lots of comments on formats and style but the real test is going to be content. If the questions are like they are at the OTHER certification site (IE. Explain what the ports collection is) then this project is dead from the start. Before I can even begin to form an opinion I would need to a good representative sample of the questions that will be asked on the test. Secondly, what is the practical requirements for the certification? It is fine to be able to write a test, and if a company was hiring people based on their ability to study for and pass a certification then MSCE's would be in high demand. As what companies want are practically trained individuals with a good grounding that practical aspect to the certification seem, to my mind at least, to be indispensable.
Anyhow, I think I is a good idea. I will be reading the developments with interest =). Mathew Edlund Edmonton, Alberta _______________________________________________ BSDCert mailing list [email protected] http://lists.nycbug.org/mailman/listinfo/bsdcert
