Hello Antonio,

maybe 'blockfile', 'statusfile' or 'progressfile'.
Problem with the latter two is they don't make sense for the domain logfile (it does not contain a status or progress). Calling them 'progressfile' and 'domainfile' could make sense, but does not convey the fact that they use the same format and can change roles on subsequent runs.

I'd rather keep the current name ;-)
Of course there is the pitfall for new users who think "I don't need a logfile, won't read it anyway..." but the documentation makes it pretty clear it is a bad idea to run ddrescue without logfile.

Best regards,
Martin

Dear all,

Some people think that the "logfile"[1] of ddrescue should be renamed. That "logfile" means just a log of the program's activity, which is not true of ddrescue's logfile.

I tend to agree that the name is somewhat misleading, but I have been unable to find a suitable replacement name yet.

So I'm asking your suggestions about an appropriate name. Maybe among all we well be able to find a better name.

Thanks in advance,
Antonio.
