I think logfile is fine. Wikipedia's definition of logfile includes this: "a file that records either events that occur in an operating system or other software runs" Maybe it doesn't fully explain the value of the ddrescue logfile, but it doesn't seem wrong either.
I also like the 4th definition of "log" on dictionary.reference.com: "any of various records, made in rough or finished form, concerning a trip made by a ship or aircraft and dealing with particulars of navigation, weather, engine performance, discipline, and other pertinent details; logbook."
