You wording is somewhat confusing. The last major versions of GNUbg (1.0x) are more recent than XG2. It went something like : GNUbg 0.90, then XG1 (about 5 Elo points stronger at 2ply/GNU 3ply/XG), then XG2 (about 15 points stronger than XG1), then GNUbg 1.0 (about 15 points stronger than 0.90 and 5 points short of XG2). In addition, XG has its roller levels that give it another advantage. It was a bit disappointing to remain slightly weaker than XG2 but enough of an improvement over GNUbg 0.90 to be worth releasing as it was rather than wait for hypothetical further improvements.
