Then how does the BIOS do it?  I don't think the BIOS is moving drives
around, and if at all possible, I'd like to avoid moving drives around..

I'll do that..  I need to go see if the BIOS is moving around drives
behind my back too, though.. If it isn't, I still want to be able to boot
from the MBR (and even it it is, it would still be nice to have a menu
option that loaded something like, say, EZ-DRIVE, for people with messed
up BIOSes)
