I just got an answer from the french translator:
"I've just committed a new version of the translations, i tried to
reduce the number of char in the interface but it's limited : « Save »
takes 4 char in English where it takes… 11 char in French : «
Sauvegarder », i can maybe add something like a \n, if it's not too
awful. Anyway I've reduced some labels."
