I've also been hacking on the IcedTea forest with Mercurial 1.2.1 and
a working forest.
The version from: http://bitbucket.org/pmezard/hgforest-crew/ worked
for me (and presumably for Andrew Haley too as I passed him the same
link).
Specifically, I'm using changeset:   91:872a57531db6 :)
