I can’t speak for Gpredict, but when we’re using SatPC32, there is an
additional application called SUM, for Sun and Moon, that will track the SUN or
the MOON, so you can check and calibrate your system against.

So put on your Eclipse glasses, and line the antennas up with the sun, or wait
till later in the day and line it up with the moon.

Hope that helps,

Walter/K5WH

Subject: [BVARC] Want to point

I am designing a satellite PT mount for my satellite antenna. I know about not
pointing lasers at airplanes and I do NOT plan on that.

But what I am looking for is what pointer they use to show stars in the sky. I
want to use Predict and track Comm Satellite automatically. But what I also
want to do is point it out as the unit pans.

I am going to use a Yagi and mount it on top of that. I plan on having a 12v
battery to drive the unit. I also am going to use a .9 step angle motor with
57oz hold power. So the unit can not be very heavy. I also plan on using about
3 amp - 5 amps, for safety, say 8 amps with onboard computers and drivers. I
plan on using shielded cable in the antenna and to the radio. The frequencies
are from 137mhz to 440mhz.

I hope that is enough info to give me an idea.

And thoughts?
