On Linux, I used codeBlocks but when I started doing a little of Java, I got 
c++ "plugin" for eclipse. I think I'd stick to that, but is it as good as 
MS-VC++, ? I don't think so.

Very good question. In fact it will be useful to have a list of all windows 
equivalents on Linux. Delphi IDE has Linux equivalent with its kylix 
components.
