There are two separate issues involved. * What type of an install will be supported initially for sparc ?
Given the limited amout of time, we plan to support only automated install for sparc for only sun4v. * Which packages need/can to installed on a sparc box ? This depends on the set of redistributable packages for the given sparc architecture. -Sanjay Alan Coopersmith wrote: > Xorg has been delivered on SPARC for approx. two years (since snv_58). > Only one SPARC graphics board has a Xorg driver delivered into the WOS > (kfb/XVR-2500), though the SPARC graphics team also has Xorg drivers for > XVR-100 & XVR-300 that they have supposedly made arrangements to deliver > directly into Indiana, bypassing the WOS. > > Xsun cannot be delivered in Indiana due to third-party non-redistributable > code included in it. > > It was my understanding that the SPARC release would include Xorg & the > appropriate drivers - see for instance, Tim Cramer's thread on which hardware > to support a SPARC desktop on.
