I see - could you please try if redirecting console by adding
console=ttya or console=ttyb to the kernel parameters makes
any difference ? Something like (all is on one line)

kernel$ /I86PC.OpenSolaris-1/platform/i86pc/kernel/$ISADIR/unix -v -B
install_media=http://10.6.56.107:5555/server/images/osol-0906-106a-ai,
