If you are truly concerned with a few milliseconds of load time, and you will be if you get a couple million users, then cakePHP may not be the best choice. However even if your site does grow to myspace proportions, it's probably not going to happen overnight. If you are successful, and your user base is growing, you should be able to spend the time or money to optimize both your code and the cake core. But first you have to make a quality product that people want to use, and do it on a budget. And for that, cakePHP is a good choice.
