You mean "High Resolution Timers" and/or "lowlatency/preemptible
kernel" ?
Is that a major difference to asterisk? I cannot remember to
fiddle with these
options setting up asterisk...

It might work with version below 2.6.21 too. If it does, please update
the wiki.
It works fine with all kernel versions, 2.4.something and up.
Callweaver requires either highres timers or 1000Hz ticks. Highres
timers are available from a custom patch to 2.6.something or
officially in 2.6.21 or later (recommended). This also allows the
kernel to be configured with 'notick' (also recommended). For earlier
kernels, Callweaver needs 1000Hz ticks for timing purposes.
